Some people notice that they have a skin rash on stomach. The skin in that particular area has swollen, blotched and turned red. It can also have spots that are bumpy, flaky, scaly or filled with pus.

There are many causes for the skin rash on the stomach. It can be due to an occurrence in the stomach itself or it can be a systemic condition that affects the entire body. The most common reaction to people with rashes in any part of the body is scratching.

Unfortunately, this one of the worst things you can do. Although you might feel temporarily relieved, you could also end up damaging your skin.

Causes

Before you ask about treatment, you have to know what caused the rashes in your stomach. It can be due to any of the following:

  • Contact dermatitis or skin inflammation because your skin touched a certain object, plant or chemical. A good example is a skin rash on the stomach after wearing a shirt that has been washed with a new brand of detergent.
  • Food allergies to peanut, shellfish, strawberries, avocados and the like can cause serious rashes. Rashes are a mild reaction to food allergies as it can also cause swelling, difficulty in breathing and vomiting.
  • Psoriasis is another common cause and is believed to be an autoimmune disease. It is not confined to the stomach and it can spread to other parts of the body.
  • Eczema is a hereditary and chronic skin disorder. It is also known as atopic dermatitis.
  • Infection can either be fungal or bacterial. A fungal infection is not common and not contagious. The most common bacterial infection is impetigo and frequently occurs on children.
  • Scabies are mainly caused by mites that enter the skin’s outer layer and lay eggs under it. Mites mostly feed on blood and result in red, itchy and blistering rashes.

Treatment of Skin Rash on Stomach

In order to properly treat itchy rash on the stomach, a diagnosis of the problem is in order. Given the various causes of a rash, it is wrong to simply generalize the treatment. Usually, people buy over the counter medication and topical treatment to get rid of the itching and redness.

This can work but not all the time. The best thing you can do is to actually visit the doctor so he can check on the rashes in your stomach and prescribe the proper treatment.
